How to make WordPress feel less annoying (important)
If you already don’t like it, the trick is: strip it down so it doesn’t feel like WordPress.
1. Use a minimal theme (this changes everything)
Pick something clean like:
-
Astra (light + fast)
-
GeneratePress (very minimal)
-
Kadence (modern + flexible)
👉 Goal: make it feel like a writing tool, not a website builder.
2. Install only essential plugins (don’t overdo it)
You only need:
-
SEO: Rank Math or Yoast
-
Cache/speed: LiteSpeed Cache (if supported by hosting)
-
Security: Wordfence (optional but useful)
-
Backup: UpdraftPlus
That’s it. Avoid plugin overload — that’s what makes WordPress feel heavy.
3. Turn it into a “simple blog mode”
In settings:
-
Set homepage → latest posts
-
Remove unnecessary widgets
-
Disable comments if you don’t need them
Result: it behaves like a clean publishing feed.
4. Make writing frictionless
Use:
-
Full-screen editor mode (no distractions)
-
Gutenberg blocks (don’t install extra editors like Elementor unless needed)
